INTO THE BELLY OF THE BEAST is a multi-channel audiovisual installation that transforms the space into an otherworldly environment.
Upon entering, the viewer is confronted with a split-screen video installation acting as a spatial separation that strongly guides and restricts the gaze. In the large room behind it, the viewer is subsequently immersed in the presence of a more-than-human-scale alien: sitting, waiting, and simultaneously enigmatically present. Opposite of this stands a medical cabinet with a monitor displaying a humorous narrative video of a conversation during an endoscopic procedure.
A soundscape consisting of stomach noises plays throughout the room, filling it up and making the viewer question where they are.
